1. The lifestyle
The island lifestyle is pretty awesome. Getting around by bike or boat, driving down island roads, hitting the beaches each afternoon, catching some waves early in the morning or hitting the local reggae night at the bars… you get the idea! The lifestyle here is amazing, but caution it isn’t for everyone! This isn’t a big city and the options are limited, but we all seem to love it. My family are surfers, my husband and kids (now partner for Bocas Real Estate Group) are some of the best surfers in the country, becoming national champions and representing Bocas abroad. Each morning they wake up early and catch waves just outside our homes over at Paunch Beach. And at night, one of my sons and my husband DJ at the local bars. I can’t complain, I love the lifestyle and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
2. The Community
The people are amazing! And I am not only talking about other expats, I am also referring to locals whom I have called some of my best friends. The love we have for each other is real, and yes there is drama just like any place but the vibe amongst most is something I truly love. Together the community had come together in many occasions, recently for example during the Pandemic as local NGOs and the communities helped the people who needed it the most. The friends I have made over the years and people I will never forget and I always cherish with all my heart. I love our ladies night at local bars and restaurants, or renting a villa at Red Frog Beach Villas to have a get together with the girls for a night. I love our community and I love my friends.
3. It’s a Great Investment
As this article was written Bocas del Toro is making improvements on different items such as bringing electric from mainland to the islands, fiber optic installation from mainland, new roads, new sewage, updates to airport, and updates to roads and parks in Bocas Town to name a few. Because of this property value will increase, and with recent connections from Costa Rica to Bocas del Toro tourism is growing fast.
